Experience a unique cultural journey through the Balinese Traditional Scarecrow Experience, a creative workshop that introduces participants to the rich agrarian traditions of Bali through art, symbolism, and local wisdom.
Lelakut is a traditional Balinese scarecrow that serves not only to protect crops from pests but also carries symbolic and spiritual meaning. For the Balinese people, lelakut represents a guardian of nature, a form of respect toward the environment, and a symbol of harmony between humans and the natural world.
In this workshop, participants will learn directly from local farming communities who preserve the lelakut tradition across generations. Participants will be introduced to the philosophy behind lelakut and engage hands-on in its creation using natural materials sourced from the surrounding environment, such as bamboo, straw, and traditional fabrics.
With friendly and structured guidance, participants will be assisted step by step—from building the frame to completing their traditional scarecrow. At the same time, they are encouraged to express creativity, making each lelakut unique, personal, and meaningful.

The tradition of kite flying in Bali is a cultural heritage that combines art, philosophy, spirituality, and community togetherness. It originated strongly among agrarian communities, particularly farmers, as an expression of gratitude for abundant harvests and fertile land. For Balinese people, kites are more than just toys; they symbolize the connection between humans and the upper world (the sky). Flying a kite represents a form of prayer and thanksgiving to the Creator after the harvest season. This tradition continues to thrive today, especially during the windy season between June and September. In this workshop, participants will explore traditional Balinese kite making under the guidance of experienced practitioners dedicated to preserving this cultural heritage. Participants will be introduced to distinctive kite types such as Bebean, Janggan, Pecukan, and Celepuk, each carrying unique symbolism and artistic character. Through a structured and friendly learning approach, participants will be guided step by step—from understanding materials and assembling the frame to decorating and flying their kite. Each participant will bring home their own handcrafted kite along with a meaningful and unforgettable cultural experience.
